Australia Born '98s take on Hutt in a tight match

A great game this morning saw Hutt from Wellington take on the Australian national side. An even first quarter saw Australia's C. Artemi open the scoring, with Hutt's Cameron Hayes responding with a goal on 6 on 5.

N. Hallam scored a penalty midway through the quarter, then Jack Ross from Hutt managed a goal to equalise. J. Summers scored for Australia to make the score 3-2 in favour of the Aussies heading into the second half.

TOO LITTLE TOO LATE: Hutt on the brink of a come-back in the last minute

Lucas Mackaway scored for Australia to push their lead out to two. An exclusion from Australia's McFayden allowed Cameron Hayes to score his second goal of the match. Summers scored his second also, to take the score to 5-3. A late goal from Hutt's Jack Ross saw the scores stand at 5-4 heading into the final quarter.

Three goals from Australia in the final quarter including two from Mackaway seemed to dull Hutt's hopes at a win, with the score standing at 8-4 with 44 seconds to play. Two late goals including a fantastic bar-in from Cameron Hayes made his tally four and brought his team to a credible 8-6 scoreline.

"We should've done what we did at the end the whole game." said Hayes.

Hutt's next big game is against North Harbour, who lost similarly to the Australians, 3 goals to 6.

Golden Hawks take on Canberra Academy B

The combined Golden Hawks team provided a strong performance against Canberra Academy today.

Golden Hawks' Tom Oolders and Wilson Longhurst opened the scoring with one goal each.

Oolders netted another three goals in the second to push his team out to a 0-6 lead heading into half time.

Golden Hawks continued to push the counter attacks and Will Pickering scored an outstanding three goals in the third.

Canberra started strongly in the final quarter with L. Groves scoring from centre-forward.

Final score 1-13 to the Golden Hawks.

Waitakere Gold vs. CDM Polo 1

TENSE: CDM Bench watch over a counter-attack

A tightly contested 1-2 first quarter reflected the first three quarters of the match. CDM were up 4-6 heading into the final six minutes.

Waitakere are a young team, and in one instance let their inexperience get the better of them. One player was excluded for the rest of the game with a few minutes left to play, letting Corona Del Mar walk away with the game, 5 goals to 11.

CDM spread their goals evenly, with two each for Trush, Brooks, Spruth, and Hack.

Nick Stankovich scored two for his side, showing his fitness after a week of playing in the Under 16 competition.
