Australia took the lead early, getting up 6-3 by the end of the first quarter. They were able to lead for most of the game, but North Harbour certainly pushed them to their limits.
This matchup had everything, 6 on 5 attacks that nailed the ball into the goal-line, as well as seemingly effortless counter attacks and powerful outside shots from both teams.
Australia walked away with the fully deserving15-10 win over North Harbour in the end. The U17 National girls from across the Tasman had the ability to simply outplay the local Auckland side, with a higher affinity to execute all of their opportunities, as well as putting up immense pressure on defence, making sure Harbour's power-house #13 Liana Dance had difficulty receiving the ball in her centre forward position.
Australia's #8 lines up for her Penalty Shot in the first quarter, against NH Goalie Sinead Seo.
Here's hoping we get to see this matchup again in the semifinal or finals of the U18 Woman's competition, as this was simply a great game to watch. You can bet the North Harbour Girls will come back firing if given the opportunity.
