Hutt leaped ahead in the first quarter 3 - 1 setting the pace of the game but Rotorua soon adjusted to the tempo and came out firing in the second with M. Knights scoring 2 goals and a miraculous goal with 0.1 second on the clock from the goal keeper P. Chapman who managed to even the score heading into the second half 4 - 4.
After a relatively uneventful 3rd quarter Hutt once again had taken the lead after being awarded a penalty shot in the 3rd making it 5 - 4 in Hutts favor heading into the final quarter. With heart and determination Rotorua pulled out everything they had in the final quarter and within 2 minutes into the last quarter C. Smith, T.Chapman and L.Gordan executed the opportunity to raise the bar scoring 3 individual goals to take the lead 7 - 5 leaving Hutt scrambling for any opportunity they could find. Rotorua's defense remained strong with P. Chapman shutting down any opportunity they had resulting in a Final score of 7 -5.
