Big scores from the beginning look at the U18 Women's here at Milllennium this morning.
The opening game had North Harbour making their stand against Canberra Academy A (also known as their Black Team) 17 - 4. We are yet to discover which team Canberra Academy has put forward as there 'best' team in the U18 Women's competition.
Marist Red take it to Waitakere with a 11 - 2 final score. Waitakere held strong for the first half only allowing Marist to convert 2 goals per quarter but Charlotte Valentine of Marist came out firing in the 3rd quarter conceding 4 goals alone increasing the lead drastically 9 - 1 leading into the final quarter with a final score of 11 -2 to Marist.
AUS Green follow suit and blow North Harbour B out of the water with an impressive 17 - 4 win. It was clear that North Harbour was not ready for the the Australians up-speed pace and went up early with a 5 -1 lead in the first quarter. This trend continued throughout the game but North Harbour adjusted and showed some massive improvements coming into the final quarter where they held it down to 3 -2.
It appears that Canberra Academy B also known as the Canberra Blue team may in fact be the stronger side after they showed some strength beating Harbour City 6 - 3. It was a tight battle between both these sides with extremely strong defensive games from both teams and exceptionally high goalkeeping standards making it near impossible to convert a goal. Half time score of 3 - 2 Canberra Academy's Tiana Sinclair stepped up scoring 3 goals in the second half making it 4 goals for the game and giving Canberra the lead. Harbour City Abbey Cartmell played an outstanding game scoring all 3 of Harbour City's goals but unfortunately it wasn't quite enough. Final Score 6 - 3.
