Tauranga started strongly, with a goal from Lucy Street off a man-up play. Alice Williams scored another for Tauranga to take the score to 0-2 after the first quarter.
The second saw Waitakere come alive, with goals from S. Paterson, H. McNaught, and G. Tomuli-Afoa. Tauranga managed to net three also, thanks to Kayla Dew, Eliza-Jane Reiger, and Sophie Hayden. 3-5 at half-time.
A strong quarter from Tauranga saw their lead blow out to six, with two goals from Ella Pollock, and one from Shinae Carrington and another from Reiger.
A goal to each side in the final quarter saw a convincing win to Tauranga, 4 goals to 10.

"It was good - we probably shouldn't have let the score get away from us at the start - but a win's a win." said Tauranga's coach Simone Couvee.
Tauranga lost to North Harbour 5-2 in the round-robin style of competition. North Harbour play Marist tonight in the final.
"We gave them [North Harbour] a good run for their money - so it will be good to see where they do in regards to Marist and how Nationals will pan out for us in December." said Couvee.
