California's Corona Del Mar Polo 2 have taken it to Tauranga Under 18A Men with a 5-10 victory at West Wave this afternoon.
Tauranga started strongly with goals from Tristan Houghton and Justin Pickering. CDM quickly woke up and scored threee unanswered goals in the last one and a half minutes, two of those going to F. Hoose.
J. Barden scored two at the start of the second for CDM, to take the scores to 2-5. Tauranga's Pickering gave away a penalty to let JT. Hoy convert for CDM to push their lead out to 4. Houghton scored in the last minute to bring the scores to 3-6.
Another goal from Houghton early in the half brought Tauranga's hopes up, but careless exclusions let CDM capitalise. 5-8 the score at three quarter time.
H. Fundament and F. Hoose (4 goals) scored one each for CDM in the final quarter to make the score 5-10 at the final whistle.
"We just didn't finish and had no counter-defence." said Tauranga's Mitchell Gregory.
