Australian upset in U16 Girls quarterfinals
The NSW CHS girls were favourites and top of their pool going into their quarterfinal against the NSW Country girls this afternoon, who finished second in their pool. Half time saw the scoreboard read 1-1, with goals to CHS #11 Humby and Country's #10 Bahr. Tough defence, great saves in goal, and missed 6 on 5 opportunities ruled the game, as witnessed by the kick out board; 12 kick outs throughout the entire game. It wasn't until late in the fourth quarter where NSW Country's #7 K. Clague was able to optimise on her team's offensive play, scoring the final goal of the match to lead her team to a 3-2 victory over the NSW CHS side, who will now have to play off for the 5th-8th spots. The Country girls will now go on to play Marist Red in tomorrow's semifinal at Sacred Heart Aquatic Centre.
