Packed stand for Marist vs. Queensland

A thrilling example of the sport when Red met Maroon at Sacred Heart this evening.

MARIST ON 3: Team cheer to pump the adrenalin before the game

A long three days of competition seemed to affect one team more than the other, with Queensland Under 16 Girls making their mark early - scoring two goals and keeping Marist quiet.

Marist's Miki Eruera started the scoring in the second quarter, opening up a ripper from a 6 on 5 attack, bringing the score to 1-2. Queensland's Olivia McDonald capitalised on a penalty opportunity, her strong shot too much for Marist goalkeeper Antonia Young. Queensland kept their two goal buffer heading into the third quarter, 2-4.

A 6 on 5 goal to Marist's Casey Rei and another from Miki Eruera brought the scores equal, but Queensland were determined to stay ahead - Caetlyn Tooley and N. Donaldson slotting one each past Marist's defence.

The final quarter was bound to be hotly contested, following a yellow card to Queensland's coach in the third.

Goal for goal set Marist up for a comeback, but Queensland's Tooley shut down their opportunity - scoring a heart-breaker from distance to push the girls in maroon through the finishing gates, the score standing at 7-9.

"It felt amazing - stoked." said Queensland's Caetlyn Tooley.
