ALL SMILES: Canterbury's Lottie Eglinton after their loss against Harbour City
The 2010 and 2011 earthquakes were devastating for water polo in Christchurch, losing many of the pools in the central city, including QEII which hosted the 2010 NZ Under 16 Champs.
"The earthquakes were pretty bad because obviously QEII went down and that's where we trained. We've combined both the clubs - Wharenui and QEII - so now we're Canterbury."
Lottie was selected in the New Zealand Under 15 Girls Cadet team who traveled to Brisbane last year. She narrowly missed selection this year.
"I'm kind of seeing how it's all going - there's no teams that I can train with to that intensity. I'm just swimming and going to the gym and stuff so I don't really have the experience that all the other girls have. But I definitely don't want to stop playing water polo - it's fun - but I'll just see how it all goes." said Eglinton.
Canterbury lost to North Harbour B 7-1 on Sunday - which Eglinton said was disappointing; "It was our first game. If we played them after another two more games we could've done better."
