Two capitals through to U20 Women's semis

Wellington prove their worth

Wellington are the victors of the first quarter-final, defeating Marist 9-5.

The girls from the windy city were dominant from the start, with Kate Enoka and Abby Cartmell opening the scoring, again showing their flare in 6 on 5.

Marist had their say at the end of the second quarter, Ricci Ferigo providing her team with some hope - the scores 4-1.

Another from Ferigo brought the scores to 4-2, but Enoka responded with another from range. 5-2 with a quarter to play.

Marist's Jordan Milicich-Misikini managed to get a penalty past Wellington's Selina Duggan, 5-3.

Jaymee Graham responded for Wellington, and another for Milicich-Misikini saw the scores at 6-4 with 3:40 left on the clock.

Marist's B. Crossan gave away a penalty, allowing Wellington's Enoka to score her third. A relatively close quarter to finish - final score 9-5 in Wellington's favour.

Wellington will play California's CDM Polo in their semi-final tonight.

North Harbour fall to Canberra Academy

The girls from Australia's capital have prevailed in a very close match over Auckland's North Harbour.

Canberra's M. Taylor managed two in the first, as did Harbour's Taylor Sheehan, scoring one with 5 seconds left on the clock. First quarter 4-3 to Canberra.

Sarah Doyle equalised for North Harbour, bringing the scores to 4-4. A second quarter flourish of goals from Canberra's M. Taylor (2) and G. Smith (1) saw Canberra race out with a 3 goal lead into the second half.

Canberra stamped their authority, G. Smith scoring one and M. Torre another. Scoreline 9-4. North Harbour had fought to get to this quarter-final and were not about to give up. Sarah Doyle netted two on the trot, and another from Grace Tobin saw North Harbour back in the hunt - 9-7 with a quarter to play.

Up and down from both teams, but North Harbour's Taylor Sheehan scored one to make it 9-8. Canberra were not backing down, G. Smith and M. Taylor scoring another each. 11-8 with 3:35 left to go.

Three goals in just over a minute for North Harbour was too little too late, final score 11-10.

"We're pretty disappointed." said Harbour's Jordyn Knights. Knights has been in the North Harbour team throughout their golden era, winning numerous Pan Pacs and NZ National Championships.

"But we're excited to get the chance to meet Marist in our game tomorrow." said Knights.

Canberra will play AUS Green tonight at 7:20 in their bid for the final.
