Canberra's bench with hearts in their mouths as their team swim off after a
time out with 4 seconds on the clock to defend the 8-8 scoreline
Canberra's centre forward #7 Gracianna Smith caused trouble for the AUS team throughout the game, earning kick-outs left, right and centre.
Keen outside shooting from the AUS girls kept hopes high - notably from #12 Tess Jenkins with an amazing bar-down in the second and another great shot from range in the fourth.
With the scores locked at 8-8 with only four seconds left on the clock, AUS Gold coach Predrag Mihailovic called a time-out. The girls took to the pool but were unsuccessful in execution, ending the game in a draw.
Canberra coach Dragan Bakic said he was happy with the way the girls played, though the result was disappointing. "At the end we gave away an easy goal. But considering we up a bit and they we up a little bit a draw is probably a fair result. But I wish we won because we just gave an easy goal at the end."
Canberra lost to CDM Polo yesterday 8-11.
"We need to win our game tomorrow morning against Waikato, and then we have Marist in the last game of the group - if we win that then we're in the second round - if we play really well we can win it all, if we don't play well we can lose it all." said Bakic.
