Fierce start to Under 20 Mens

North Harbour dominate Sea Wolf

North Harbour have had a flying start in the first game of the Under 20 Mens Division this morning, dominating the Auckland-based Sea Wolf club 23-5 at West Wave Aquatic Centre.

North Harbour raced out to a 9 goal lead after the first quarter with Tamati Harris and Owen Chambers contributing two goals each.

Sea Wolf came out to fight back in the second quarter, going down 3-2 with T. Baxter and L. Roberts netting one each.

North Harbour ran away with the rest of the game, finishing up with an impressive 23-5 - making them a team to watch for the rest of the tournament.

"It was a good start from the boys, hopefully we can carry it on for the rest of the tournament." said team junior Patrick Chambers.

Young Aussies take on Tau-Wai Taniwhas

The second game this morning saw the Australian Born '97 team take on the Tauranga/Waitakere combination 'Tau-Wai Taniwha' in a tale of two-halves.

Australia's Under 17s have entered the competition against boys who are in some instances 3 years older.

The first quarter was a tightly contested battle with each team netting one each.

The second and third quarters saw Australia dominate, drawing the score out to 9-2 heading into the last.

Tau-Wai Taniwha came out firing in the last quarter, but the burst was not enough to recover from the damage done in the middle half of the game. The scores rounded out at 13-7, with the Taniwha's D. Shannohan scoring on the buzzer.
